What Does Alcohol Rehab Consist Of?
An addiction to alcohol is cunning primarily since alcohol is readily and legally available almost anywhere. Unlike obtaining illegal drugs, you can venture out to the liquor store first thing in the morning or go to a bar or restaurant throughout the day for your drinks. While you may often feel alone when you are amid your addiction, Legacy Healing Center in South Florida is here to show you that recovery is not something that you need to face alone.

First, Alcohol Detox
Before you move forward with a treatment program, you must remove the immediate influence of alcohol from your body. However, doing this is often easier said than done if you have a long-standing addiction, which is why it’s essential to consider first going through our alcohol detox program.

Once you decide to stop drinking, within hours of your last drink, you will begin to feel the physical effects of not drinking, which is called withdrawing from alcohol. Symptoms of withdrawal come in a variety of different forms. Some examples of withdrawal symptoms include shakiness, nausea, sweating, and general physical discomfort. These symptoms can usually last for a few days.
In some cases, however, the withdrawal symptoms can be more severe and even deadly. It’s never advisable that you try to detox on your own. We strongly recommend taking advantage of our detox program to ensure you remain safe and healthy during this transition.
Getting to the Root of Alcohol Addiction
During your recovery, we encourage you to explore the root cause of what led to your addiction. Often, the underlying cause of your addiction is associated with some traumatic event. It can be something that happened in your childhood or an accident when you were an adult. First responders often struggle with alcohol addiction because they’re haunted by memories from different calls that they went on during their careers.
Regardless of the cause of your addiction, you can rest assured that the Legacy Healing Center team is here to provide you with continuous support during and after your treatment.
Overcoming Addiction With Therapy
During your time at the Legacy Healing Center, you will take part in various types of therapy. The two main forms of treatment you will participate in consist of group therapy and individual therapy. There are significant benefits to both counseling techniques. Group therapy allows you to connect with other patients that have had similar experiences as you have while he or she was struggling with addiction. These sessions are led by one of our counselor’s in a 12-step meeting format. You will have the chance to share, and then you are allowed to listen to your fellow patients.

Individual therapy is just as important because it gives you time to speak to one of our counselors in a one-on-one setting. These meetings provide an excellent time to check-in and discuss your feelings and progress through your program. It also gives you the chance to speak about specific topics you may not feel comfortable talking about in a group setting. Of course, if you need to meet with a member of our team sooner than your scheduled time, just let us know. We will coordinate a meeting as quickly as possible.
