Alcohol Rehab For New York City Residents

What Does Alcohol Rehab Consist Of?

Alcoholism can readily be described as a cunning disease. Unlike drug addiction, where in many cases a person would need to obtain their drug of choice illegally to maintain their habit, a person that is struggling with an addiction to alcohol can go to the liquor store as soon as it opens.

The Legacy Healing Center team in South Florida works to show you that there is a different and healthier way of life. We work to develop a treatment plan that incorporates various forms of therapy and different activities that help you to obtain a better understanding of the root cause of your addiction and what you can do to achieve and maintain sobriety.

First, Alcohol Detox

If you are still actively drinking, it’s essential that you first consider going through our alcohol detox program before enrolling in any program. When your body has become accustomed to alcohol consumption, you will begin to feel the physical side effects of not drinking within the first few hours after your last drink. It’s impossible to tell which symptoms you will feel, and they range from mild to severe. We strongly recommend that you go through our alcohol detox program so that our medical professionals can monitor your systems to ensure that they don’t turn deadly.

Getting to the Root of Alcohol Addiction

Learning more about what led you to alcoholism is a critical aspect of your overall recovery. In many cases, a past trauma from your childhood, accident, or job may have triggered your addiction. One of the forms of counseling that we offer at our facility is one-on-one therapy. During these meetings, you will have the chance to speak personally with a member of our staff about experiences that may have impacted your sobriety.

Overcoming Addiction with Therapy

We offer group and behavioral therapy as well. Group therapy helps you develop your system of support while gaining the opportunity to gather more insight into your addiction from fellow rehab attendees. Behavioral therapy is beneficial if you are also struggling with a mental health issue.

With years of experience in the industry, we understand that addiction tends to affects every member of a family, which is why we also give you the option to take part in family therapy. We can arrange a meeting with your entire family so that each of you can begin to heal from the consequences of addiction.

Keep in mind, however, that if you recently went through a treatment program at another rehab, there is a possibility that your insurance may not be willing to pay for services so soon after. Another scenario is that your insurance company may not cover a detox program that plays an impact on the beginning of your recovery.

A good rule of thumb is to speak with one of our intake specialists regarding your insurance. We are always happy to help you try to cut through the red tape that is often associated with insurance.

What Is the Difference Between Inpatient and Outpatient?

The leading difference between our inpatient and outpatient programs is where you will physically stay during your time in treatment. Our outpatient programs are well-suited for an individual who recognizes that he or she needs help with drug addiction but still needs to tend to different personal or professional responsibilities. You will work with one of our counselors to put together a schedule where you will come to our facility on certain days and at certain times for treatment.

When you opt to participate in our inpatient program, you will stay on our campus in South Florida for a set amount of days for care. We will let you know what you need to bring with you. However, we will also provide you with delicious and healthy food options and the flexibility to take part in different activities and outings while you are here for treatment.

We never want you to feel like you have no place to turn once you are done with treatment. With this in mind, we developed our Addiction Aftercare program. Addiction Aftercare gives you the flexibility to reach out to our team at any point, whether you need to check-in or if you need a higher level of support. Additionally, it puts you in contact with other Legacy alumni, which is helpful, especially after you initially complete treatment.

Sober Friendly Attractions in New York City

When you return home to New York City from our rehab center in South Florida, it’s essential you immediately begin to put in place healthy routines that help to reinforce the work that you did during your time at our facility. This should always include finding local 12-step meetings that you can frequently attend. An excellent suggestion is to find one that is close to your home and one that is close to work, so this way you have the flexibility to go to one or the other on a routine basis.

However, in your spare time, we encourage you to take in the sober friendly sites and sounds of New York City. There are numerous places that you can visit around the city that can help to inspire you to remain on the path toward sobriety.

Museum of Modern Art

Located in the heart of Manhattan, the Museum of Modern Art is home to one of the world’s largest collections of modern art. Over and above breathtaking temporary and permanent exhibits, the museum also offers a variety of workshops throughout the year. These events incorporate different aspects and artistic techniques that a person at any age could learn. The Museum of Modern Art is open seven days a week between 10:30 AM and 9 PM.

You can visit the Museum of Modern Art at 11 W. 53rd Street, New York, NY 10019.

Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden is one of the most popular attractions in the city for sports lovers. This venue is the home stadium for both the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers. The stadium provides adequate parking if you want to drive there. However, it is also close to the subway for easier access. However, it’s important to note that Madison Square Garden does serve alcohol, so if you plan to go to an event for a game, you should try to bring a sober friend with you to avoid any temptation.

Madison Square Garden is located at 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10001.

Madame Tussauds

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to meet your favorite celebrity? Although you cannot reach them in real life, Madame Tussauds gives you the chance to “meet” in a unique way. Madame Tussauds is known around the world for expertly crafty wax figures of prominent figures. You can take pictures with a figure of Angelina Jolie as well as Martin Luther King, Jr. This attraction is open seven days a week as early as 9:30 AM.
