Substance Abuse Levels of Care in Cherry Hill

Our Levels of Addiction Treatment

Many rehab centers utilize a continuum of care, allowing clients to enter treatment at a specific level of care that aligns with their needs. Once that addiction level of care is completed, clients can then move to a different level that better suits where they are in their recovery. The level of care in which a client is placed is determined by a clinical assessment, which outlines the severity of the person’s addiction, whether they’ve undergone detox or treatment before, and more. If you or someone you know is searching for treatment options, below is more on the substance abuse levels of care offered at Legacy Healing Center Cherry Hill.

Generally speaking, this is how levels of care for substance abuse treatment work. Someone with a long-term opioid use disorder requires medically monitored detox – that’s the first level of care. After completing detox, they may transition to a step-down level of care, such as a partial hospitalization program (PHP).

Once they’ve completed this level, they may then step down again to an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which may then be followed by outpatient or aftercare services. The purpose of this structure is to help the client slowly heal physically and mentally from substance abuse and transition to a sober lifestyle they can sustain after rehab. Below is more on our addiction treatment levels of care and how they work.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Partial hospitalization programs are structured treatment programs that run for several hours a day, several days a week. Clients participate in scheduled treatment sessions where they work individually and in groups with therapists to learn more about their disorders. This program is normally a step down from inpatient/residential care but can also be used to prevent the need for an inpatient hospital stay.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Similar to our PHP, our IOP in New Jersey is a form of treatment for addictions, depression, eating disorders, or other dependencies that do not require detoxification or round-the-clock supervision. They enable patients to continue their daily routines in a way that residential or inpatient programs do not. Whereas residential treatment programs require clients to live at the facility, our New Jersey IOP program allows clients to return home after completing their scheduled sessions.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is the least intensive of our substance abuse levels of care. Patients in this program participate in minimal sessions with our counselors and can go back home after their sessions are over. Our New Jersey outpatient rehab also offers sober group activities to grant clients the opportunity to meet others in the recovery community and develop strong relationships that are supportive of their abstinence from drugs and alcohol. The goal of this program is to help clients adjust to sober life outside of rehab.

Medically Assisted Detox

Medically supervised detox (detoxification) is usually the first step in addiction treatment, especially for individuals with severe or long-term substance use disorders. In most cases, patients are experiencing withdrawal symptoms as a result of physical dependence. In our medical detox programs, they receive round-the-clock care, supervision, and medication from our team.

Our Cherry Hill detox is a crucial step in the recovery process because it addresses difficult and sometimes life-threatening withdrawals. Not only can these withdrawals be dangerous, but they’re a leading cause of relapse early in treatment. To prevent these outcomes and increase clients’ chances of moving forward in treatment, we place them in a medical drug or alcohol detox program.
