What Is Outpatient Treatment?
Addiction treatment can be intense, all-encompassing, and even emotionally draining at times. After rehab concludes, many mistakenly think that the majority of the work has been completed. The reality is that maintaining their sobriety will take continuous effort on their part. Luckily, they don’t have to do this alone. This is why Legacy Healing Center offers outpatient drug treatment in Cincinnati, Ohio, designed to provide continual support to our patients as they acclimate back to their everyday routines.
Outpatient treatment is the least intensive level of care offered at our Ohio addiction rehab. Unlike our PHP or IOP options, outpatient drug and alcohol treatment places greater emphasis on helping patients maintain sobriety rather than achieve it.
Upon first arriving at Legacy Healing, our team of clinical professionals will closely evaluate all facets of your unique addiction and situation, after which they can appropriately determine what treatment level is the one for you. For example, some patients may need something more intense, like residential treatment, in order to bring them down to a level that is more receptive to treatment.
How Long Is Outpatient Treatment?
Typically, a patient’s treatment in an outpatient program can last anywhere from three months to one year after completing their initial rehab stay. However, this will ultimately depend on the individual’s needs and their ability to uphold their sobriety. A number of other items should also be considered, including their overall progress, how prone they are to relapse, their support system at home, and other factors. What is important to remember is that a person relapsing doesn’t automatically mean that treatment failed but rather illustrates the chronic nature of their disease and a need to readjust the care they are receiving.
Throughout the programming of our outpatient drug treatment in Cincinnati, Ohio, patients will have far more flexibility to pursue additional endeavors. Whether that is resuming their studies or returning to the job, they are given the invaluable opportunity to uphold these personal commitments while also prioritizing their own care and wellness. This is something that often gets overlooked in the hustle and bustle of everyday American life. What Legacy aims to do is give patients the ability to slow down and take the time to look within.
While addiction is classified as a chronic mental illness, this does little to detract from the stigma that is often associated with it. It is this stigma that commonly sways people away from getting the treatment they need. We seek to erase that and replace it with a genuine understanding of the debilitating nature of this illness while empowering our patients to overcome it and regain agency over themselves and their lives. Our outpatient rehab in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an amazing tool that gives patients a chance to continue receiving the care necessary while being able to regain control through their responsibilities and commitments.

Electing to continue or pursue treatment is an incredibly courageous choice that should be commended. It highlights one’s own commitment to themselves, their wellness, and their desire to improve their overall life for the better. Substance use disorder may never truly disappear from a person’s life, but that does not mean they don’t have the ability to reclaim their lives. While part of this program, patients have the opportunity to make use of the effective addiction therapies that are administered by clinical professionals.
One such example is psychodynamic therapy, which places a holistically in-depth focus on the individual’s relationship with the world around them. This is invaluable in the realm of addiction treatment, especially considering the social nature of this disease. Of course, there are people that elect to self-medicate in order to manage the symptoms they are dealing with. But there are also countless instances where a person simply gets pressured by a peer to try a substance, setting off a lifelong struggle. No matter the reason, not one person deserves to suffer through the complexities and trauma that addiction can result in.
