Partial Hospitalization Program for Addiction

When people hear the word “rehab,” many visualize images of full-time care in the setting of a medical facility. Although this is certainly the case for a number of people, it can also drive certain individuals away with its rigidity and intensity. To mitigate this, our facilities seek to provide a variety of care levels that grant a sense of structure and flexibility to the overall treatment process. One such example is Legacy Healing Center’s Ohio PHP. Read on to learn more about this program and how it can help you achieve and maintain your sobriety.

What Does PHP Stand For?

The acronym PHP stands for “Partial Hospitalization Program.” It focuses on providing structured mental health and addiction treatment that serves as a step down from our fully residential option. Running roughly 3 to 5 days a week, care sessions themselves make up a majority of the patient’s day. They will participate in these therapy sessions with highly trained professionals with years of experience in the addiction recovery field. They have the option to return home at the end of the day, or they can stay on the premises at our Cincinnati rehab center

A typical day in our Ohio PHP is filled with therapy sessions in both individual and group settings, periodic evaluations, psychoeducation, and skill-building practice that will be useful in maintaining sobriety in the long run. Addiction is far from a simple disease, and we understand the complexities that come with such a diagnosis.

Requirements for Partial Hospitalization

For a person to be admitted into this program, they must meet a certain set of criteria designed to evaluate how effective it will be in their unique case. This is determined by a clinical assessment that will be conducted upon admission.

Factors required to qualify for our Ohio PHP include:

  • – Inability to follow up on commitments due to abuse of drugs or alcohol
  • – Relatively secure medical stability
  • – Previous completion of medically monitored detox, where necessary
  • – Clear motivation to participate in treatment
  • – Presence of a co-occurring mental illness or substance use disorder
  • – A stable support system at home

Benefits of a Partial Hospitalization Program

Patients of Legacy Healing Center Cincinnati’s PHP enjoy a number of perks and advantages of participation.

Advantages of a PHP experience include:

  • – The ability to spend weekends and evenings in the comfortable environment of one’s own home.
  • – Routine interactions with clinical professionals.
  • – Personalized treatment plans address the addiction in question and the most effective ways of treating it.
  • – A more stable transition back to one’s daily routine.
  • – The ability to develop one’s personal agency and sense of responsibility, not only in regards to their addiction but to life in general.
  • – Opportunities to attend educational programs and classes led by industry professionals.

The numerous therapy methods that we offer give patients the ability to obtain a better idea of the toxic cycles and habits that have led them to this point. One such example is our use of hypnotherapy. This is a clinically established form of guided hypnosis that can aid in the healing process. A clinically trained hypnotherapist will guide the patient into a deep state of calm and relaxation, during which they are more receptive to creating positive changes to the unconscious mind.

Our clinicians may also utilize brain paint, an evidence-based EEG therapy that is effective in healing the physical effects of substance abuse on the brain. Brain paint is said to improve the way we think, feel, and behave by optimizing our overall brain function. Patients can also take comfort in the fact that this method is drug-free and non-invasive. Both brain paint and hypnotherapy can play a vital role in addressing the deeper or internalized causes of addiction.

Overall, the partial hospitalization program seeks to provide the best care possible while giving our patients a sense of normalcy and routine. It can serve as an effective step down from traditional residential treatment and can play an important role in one’s journey toward recovery. What is most important is to address a problem when it arises, as opposed to putting it off and waiting for it to become even more of an issue.
