Christian Drug Rehab in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Faith plays an essential role in the recovery of many substance abusers. Finding a Higher Power that you can trust in and turn to when you need additional strength during your time in recovery can help you navigate through the difficult moments.

Legacy Healing Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL provides you with the support and affirmation to walk confidently down the road of sobriety knowing that you have a relationship with God. Our team is here to help you develop your spiritual relationship with your Higher Power while supplying you with the guidance you need to leave the influence of drugs in your past.

How Are Faith Based Rehabs Different?

One of the best ways you can explore your faith during your time in rehab is through one on one therapy options. Part of your rehab experience entails regular meetings with one of our trained counselors to discuss a variety of aspects of your treatment including the root cause of your addiction as well as your growing faith. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to discuss where you are in your recovery plan and to assess whether any changes should be made.

Another way that our patients work to develop their faith in unison with their recovery is through taking part in group therapy. Many of our group recovery groups focus around working through the 12 Steps of recovery. This helps you focus not only on overcoming your addiction but building your relationship with your Higher Power.

We realize that addiction can not only affect you but your loved ones which is why we also offer a Family Program. This program provides your family with the opportunity to take part in therapy sessions as well as receiving education related to addiction and how they can assist you in your road to recovery.

What Does the Bible Say About Addiction?

The Bible is the cornerstone of Christianity. The pages of the Bible are filled with a mix of caution, wisdom, and encouragement. Many people who struggle with addiction may be surprised to learn that in many passages, the Bible also speaks about addiction.

1 Corinthians is a book in the New Testament of the Bible that speaks extensively about temptation which can lead to addiction. For example, 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”. Your time at rehab will reinforce this sage advice. When you spend time with people that have a bad influence on your life or those that enable your addiction, your character can be called into question. When you change the people you surround yourself with, the places you go and the things that you do and develop healthy habits, you are sure to notice a change in your life.

During your recovery, you can also look to the Bible for words of affirmation that God is with you every step of the way. 1 Corinthians 10:13 states, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way so that you can endure it”. In short, God will never give you more than you can handle and He will always provide you with the support you need to make it through the dark times of addiction if you are open to it.

James 5:15-16 reinforces the idea that prayer should be a pivotal role in your recovery. The verse states, “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven”. It supports the idea that by incorporating prayer into your addiction journey, you will develop a closer relationship with God. During your stay in rehab, you will have time numerous times throughout the day to sit, meditate and pray.
