What Is Outpatient Treatment for Addiction?
Some people would assume that the extent of their work toward sobriety is completed upon leaving the program. The unfortunate reality is that addiction is a chronic disease and one that will require consistent care and consideration to keep it at bay. This is why Legacy Healing in Pompano Beach provides an outpatient care center, which is designed to provide continual support for those that need it. Read on to learn more about this treatment option and how it can help you or a loved one stay sober.
Outpatient treatment is the least intensive care level offered at our South Florida rehabs. Unlike the Legacy detox or residential programs, regular outpatient treatment is intended to help patients maintain their sobriety, while the more intensive options focus on achieving it. It is a non-residential program that is highly therapy-based and useful in resolving the addiction in question while allowing patients to maintain a sense of normalcy in their day-to-day lives.
How Does Outpatient Rehab Work?
Upon first arriving at our Pompano rehab, our team of clinical professionals will evaluate all aspects of your unique situation, after which they are able to determine which avenue will most benefit you. Typically, treatment in this program can last anywhere from three months to one year after completing an inpatient stay. It can also simply be an option for those that don’t require an intense level of care but still wish to reap many of the same benefits.
A variety of factors are considered throughout the process, including how prone the patient is to relapsing, how strong their support system is at home, and their overall progress and history with the recovery process. Additionally, being prone to relapse does not necessarily mean that treatment is a lost cause. Rather, it highlights the chronic and comprehensive nature of this disease and how it should always be taken seriously.
Throughout their participation in our programs at our outpatient care center, patients will have far more flexibility to attend to their personal responsibilities. Whether you wish to return to work, resume your studies, or spend time with loved ones, this program allows you to stay on top of these commitments while also attending to your own well-being and mental health. It is easier than ever to overlook your needs in the name of success, but if you don’t take care of yourself first, then you’d be surprised how quickly everything else can fall apart.
There is an obvious stigma attached to addiction and mental illness in general. Despite the fact that addiction is a chronic disease, a misunderstanding about the severity of the situation can lead people to put off getting help and even avoid treatment altogether. This is why Legacy seeks to detract from this stigma and replace it with invaluable knowledge and insight that can be used in countless scenarios. We hope to see our patients overcome this stigma (especially in those who have internalized it,) obtain and practice the agency they are capable of, and take back their lives from the clutches of addiction.
Get the Care You Deserve at Our South Florida Rehab Centers
Choosing to pursue treatment for an addiction is an incredibly brave and impactful decision for a person to make. Our outpatient care center offer a variety of therapy methods that can aid the patient in gaining a better understanding of their mental illness, addiction, and any other detrimental coping mechanisms.
An example of such a method is our psychodynamic therapy option. Often utilized alongside hypnotherapy, it places a comprehensive focus on the patient’s relationship with the outside world. How they view it and, in turn, react to external stimuli will be heavily considered. It helps us to identify life experiences that played a part in becoming who we are and what patterns are present in our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. This deeper insight should help to give a better understanding of the emotions of the patient and how they could be contributing to their addiction.
