Nikki Bella

If you are a fan of the WWE, you know full well the skills of Nikki Bella. Born Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, this wrestler, along with her twin sister, professionally known as Brie Bella, took the WWE world by storm. Although Nikki Bella was originally born in California and moved along the west coast as her career began to develop, she currently calls Tampa home. Nikki Bella most notably gained tabloid attention during her relationship with popular wrestler John Cena, a fan favorite in his own right. She took part in the 25th season of Dancing with the Stars where she met her current husband, Artem Chigvintsev and subsequently gave birth to their son in July 2020.

Hulk Hogan

Another popular wrestler that calls the Tampa area his home is Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan gained popularity during the course of his wrestling career, which first took shape in 1977. He has played both the hero and the heel of different storylines during that time and fades in and out of the wrestling spotlight due largely to a series of injuries. Although Hogan has seen his fair share of personal scandals, he is still one of today’s most recognizable wrestling figures.

You may be surprised to learn that Tampa is home to several political figures in our country. Some of the more recognizable politicians include:

Paul Douglas Irving

For example, Paul Douglas Irving has the distinct honor of serving as the current Sergeant at Arms of the United States House of Representative. Although he was born and lived in Tampa, Irving assumed this role in 2012 after the previous Sergeant’s retirement. The Sergeant at Arms is elected at the beginning of each Congressional cycle and enforces law enforcement and other important protocols associated with the House.

Robert Francis Buckhorn, Jr.

Robert Francis Buckhorn, Jr. was originally born in Illinois but would serve as mayor of Tampa between 2011 and 2019. During his mayoral career, he took great care to form the Economic Competitiveness Committee to improve the city. Unfortunately, his mayoral tenure was not without controversy. Buckhorn, Jr. made the mistake of making comments that he claimed were jokes to certain media members. Additionally, in 2019, his Twitter account was hacked, which resulted in pornography and bomb threat postings when it was compromised.
