There is no one-size-fits-all approach to addiction treatment. Treatment plans vary greatly depending on the individual’s needs, the substance they’re using, their mental health, and other factors. At Legacy Healing Center, not only do we offer substance-specific treatment programs, but we also offer various addiction therapy services that address the behavioral and psychological aspects of substance abuse and contribute to long-term recovery.
Individual And Group Therapy For Addiction
Behavioral therapy approaches help people in substance abuse treatment by providing incentives for them to remain abstinent, modifying their attitudes, and increasing their life skills to better handle stressful situations and environmental triggers. Below are the addiction and psychotherapy services Legacy Healing Center locations offer to help clients in their recovery from substance use disorders.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Caring for Ladies and Gentlemen.
Psychodynamic therapy is an approach that involves the facilitation of a deeper understanding of one’s emotions and other cognitive processes. It works to help people gain greater insight into how they feel, think, and behave. Various forms of psychodynamic therapy are categorized according to their techniques, many of which are offered at our addiction facilities.
Rapid Resolution Therapy
Rapid resolution therapy (RRT) is a form of psychotherapy to help patients overcome the ongoing effects of traumatic experiences. RRT uses techniques like guided imagery, hypnosis, stories, and other forms of communication to resolve troubling thoughts, emotions, and behaviors related to the individual’s mental health or substance use disorder.
Family Therapy For Addiction
In addition to individual therapy for clients, we also offer family therapy for the spouses, siblings, and spouses of clients to aid in their healing and recovery. Each member of the family is impacted by a member’s addiction, so much so that there are established roles that members tend to adopt. Our addiction treatment centers offer individual therapy for families as well as group therapies with the addict to contribute to individual healing and a strong support system the individual can lean on in recovery.
Otherwise referred to as trauma-focused therapy, trauma therapy is a specific approach to psychodynamic therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how a traumatic experience impacts an individual’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. This type of therapy is rooted in comprehending the link between trauma and a person’s emotional and behavioral responses.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a psychological approach that involves analyzing strategies used by successful individuals and applying them to achieve a personal goal. NLP relates to thoughts, language, and behavioral patterns learned through experience to specific outcomes. People who practice NLP analyze their own and other perspectives to create an overview of a particular situation. By understanding a range of perspectives, the NLP user gains information and can address various situations accordingly.
Brain Paint & Vibroacoustic Therapy
Brain paint, or brain painting, is a form of neurofeedback therapy that uses biofeedback. It’s designed to improve how the brain functions. Without using a brain map, brain painting trains patients to recognize the difference between being in a focused state and a daydreaming state.
Vibroacoustic therapy, or VAT, is a deep tissue low-frequency sound massage that transmits audio waves in the range of 30Hz-120 Hz to the body via embedded transducers in the bed. The sound gently permeates the cells in the body, allowing the massage from the inside as well as out. Through the 60% of water your body is made of, the sound is transmitted and vibrated to produce a relaxing state. Our facilities combine brain paint and vibroacoustic therapy to help clients relax and feel comfortable during their treatment.
Twelve-step facilitation therapy (12-step programs) can also be used to treat drug and alcohol use disorders. This is an addiction therapeutic service that includes the recognition that addiction can have physical, emotional, social, and spiritual consequences.
This type of therapy begins with acceptance, then moves to surrender to a higher power, then eventually transitions to participation in group meetings. Programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) use group meetings like 12-step groups to offer recovering addicts a place for discussion and mutual support. Our Legacy Healing rehab centers offer these addiction therapy services to aid in clients’ long-term recovery and aftercare.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that’s been used to treat a range of problems, including depression, anxiety disorders, substance use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. The goals of CBT include:
- Learning to recognize one’s distortions in thinking that create problems and then reevaluate them in light of reality
- Gaining a better understanding of the behaviors and motivations of others
- Using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations and prevent relapse
- Learning to develop a greater sense of confidence in one’s abilities
- Facing one’s fears instead of avoiding them
- Using role-playing to prepare for potentially stressful or problematic interactions with others
- Learning to calm one’s mind and body
CBT emphasizes helping clients learn to be their own therapists. Through exercises in the sessions as well as homework exercises outside individual therapy for addiction, clients are helped to develop coping skills and learn how to change their own thinking, problematic emotions, and behavior.
