How Long Does Rehab Last?

Rehab in Coral Springs, FL

Coral Springs, in Broward County, shares a pervasive substance abuse problem with the rest of Florida. The county lost 217 people to overdoses from opioid medications alone in the first half of the year 2016. About four out of five of those overdoses involved fentanyl.

Substance abuse and addiction aren’t simply dangerous for the long-term health consequences they come with, which, admittedly, are serious. The problem, also, is that drug suppliers often pass fentanyl off as more expensive drugs, leading unwitting users to use too much and overdose. Lack of awareness is a common reason why overdoses occur, and it’s an important idea to keep in mind when you decide whether you need to seek rehab to quit.

If you’re ready to tell yourself that you will no longer put yourself at risk, Legacy Healing Center faith-based drug rehab at Coral Springs can help you with professional, evidence-based rehab care.

Benefits of 30-,60-, 90-day rehabs

To understand how long rehab takes, you need to gain an appreciation of what the process actually involves. It starts with an initial phase in which you detoxify. Detoxification is the process by which you quit using the substance that you’re addicted to, and allow the brain to cleanse itself, and regain healthy, functioning chemical equilibrium. How hard the process turns out to be, depends on the drugs that you’ve used, the quantities in which you’ve used them, and the length of time for which you’ve been addicted. In most cases, with moderate addiction, the detoxification process lasts up to two weeks.

In detoxification, the rehab treats you with medications to help suppress the cravings, the pain, the blood pressure instabilities and the seizures that come about as a result of quitting. You also receive psychological care and support to help with the anxiety involved. At rehab, you get to go through the process of detoxification with a minimum of pain and suffering.

No matter what length of treatment program you choose, 30-,60-, or 90-day rehab, you’re likely to need detoxification for the same period of time. It’s only once detoxification concludes that these programs diverge.

30-day rehab:

Short-term, 30-day inpatient rehab programs tend to be the ones most commonly chosen by people struggling with addiction. This is for the simple reason that these programs tend to be affordable and to require only a short period of time away from work and family. The fact that many insurance plans only cover 30-day rehab programs makes them popular, as well.

Once you complete detoxification in 30-day rehab, the focus of the treatment program turns to psychological therapy to help you address the psychological roots of your addiction. Treatment involves individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, but these conclude fairly quickly. If your addiction has been a mild and short-lived one, a 30-day rehab program should be adequate to help you transition to a life free of drugs.

60-day rehab:

In some cases, 30 days of rehabilitation are simply inadequate to treat an addiction with. With deeper, more complex addictions involving multiple drugs, long periods of dependence, and co-occurring psychological and mental disorders, come greater challenges in treatment. Patients typically need to attend longer periods of therapy. They may need more time to deal with deeper, more complex psychological issues, and learn deeper skills. In these cases, 60-day rehab tends to be appropriate.

90-day rehab:

Legacy Healing Center offers 90-day rehab programs for those who have the most complex kinds of addictions. Typically, patients need 90 days to thoroughly learn the skills needed to deal with addiction when they’ve attempted rehab before, but have relapsed. With longer periods of therapy, they are able to learn how to recognize cravings for what they are, understand the psychological roots of addiction, and receive training to overcome or sidestep relapses.

Each one of these three treatment durations is appropriate for different kinds of patients. When you first approach rehab for treatment, the intake panel puts you through a thorough assessment to determine how long your treatment should be, and periodically reevaluates your progress to see if a shorter or longer duration may be appropriate than originally thought.
