One of his decedents, Williams Middleton, would sign the South Carolina Ordinance of Secession in 1860. Today, the property is open to visitors who enjoy both history and an incredible landscape.

Morris Island Lighthouse

The Morris Island Light is a lighthouse that stands as a great reminder of the critical role that the Charleston Harbor played since the inception of Charleston. The lighthouse was originally lit in 1876 and was not formally deactivated until 1962. This venue is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You can access the lighthouse seven days a week between 6 AM and 8 PM. The boats leave from Morris Island, so you will want to check on the schedule for that day.
