What Does the Bible Say About Addiction?
The Bible has been a source of wisdom, comfort and guidance for thousands of years. Although the Bible may not cover the specific topic of drug addiction, it certainly offers some words associated with approaching addiction in general.
The verse’ 1 Corinthians 6:19-20′ cautions against any type of addiction when it states, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
God does not want us to ruin our bodies by poisoning them with drugs or even alcohol. Instead, we are meant to use our bodies as a way to worship God, and the only way that we can do that is when our bodies are free from any toxins.
God always provides us with the option to come back to him once we have gone through the battle of addiction. Although we may not have listened to exactly what God tells us all the time, we understand that He ultimately loves us. This sentiment is found in ‘John 16:33’ when he states, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world.”

King’s Chapel
King’s Chapel is one of the most well-known churches in Boston due largely to the role that the church played during the Revolutionary War. The church was first developed in 1686 as an Anglican church. It became a central place to congregate and worship during the Revolutionary War became so few people remained in the city during this time. Several notable patriots attended services here during that time, which is why it has become such a popular tourist attraction. The church offers tours in and around the church so that visitors can develop a great appreciation of it.
King’s Chapel is located at 58 Tremont Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02108.
Christian Science Plaza
The Christian Science Center is one of the more unique buildings in the Boston area. The center is owned by the Church of Christ, Scientist, which was first developed by Mary Bake Eddy in 1879. Followers of this religion believe that prayer is more powerful than anything and can heal various ailments. Visitors to this location will find not only the original Mother Church but also a reflecting pool and a children’s fountain. The plaza itself is open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Christian Science Plaza is located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue, Cleary Street, Belvidere Street and Huntington Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts 02115.
Old North Church
The Old North Church is another example of a church in Boston that was privy to an abundance of history associated with the Revolutionary War. On the night of April 18, 1775, the Old North Church was the lookout point for Paul Revere. He was continuously scanning the landscape in the steeple on top of the church to see when the British army was approaching. The church is still an active Episcopal church today and holds services every 9 AM and 11 AM on Sunday. When service is not taking place, the church is open to the public for general exploration or guided tours.
You can visit the Old North Church at 193 Salem Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02113.
