How Long Does Rehab Last for Cocoa Beach, FL Residents
Addiction Treatment Center for Cocoa Beach, FL Residents
Substance abuse and addiction affect the residents of Cocoa Beach, Brevard County the way they do families anywhere else in Florida. While overdoses occur in families here at rates slightly lower than the state average, they still take about 75 lives each year. It tends to be very hard for anyone to determine what quantities of drugs their bodies are able to manage without giving out. When they unintentionally take more than their bodies are able to manage, overdoses occur. Often, vendors of these substances cut the drugs they sell with cheap, but potent drugs like fentanyl to cut costs, as well, making them exceedingly dangerous to use.
Drugs aren’t safe to consume in any quantity. If you struggle with a habit and would like to quit, it’s important to understand that you need professional rehabilitation. Legacy Healing Center at Cocoa Beach can help.
Benefits of 30-, 60-, 90-day rehabs
The length of time for which rehab is needed can vary greatly from one person to another. It can depend on various factors. If you haven’t used drugs or alcohol for long, you may be able to escape addiction with a short-term, 30-day course. With long-running addictions involving the use of multiple drugs, with poor health, and with the presence of difficult mental disorders, a longer period of rehab may work out better.
Every rehab program, no matter how long it runs, starts with medical detox. This is the process by which patients quit the drugs that they use, and seek medical care to get past withdrawal safely, with a minimum of discomfort. It’s important to seek professional help for detoxification. The process can come with serious, life-threatening symptoms such as seizures, high blood pressure, and severe gastrointestinal complications.
Once you manage to get past the withdrawal symptoms of detoxification in about ten days, your brain gets used to life without drugs and no longer craves use all the time. It’s important to understand that successful completion of detox doesn’t deliver you into sobriety, however. Four out of five people who cease their rehab efforts upon the conclusion of detox slide back into addiction before long. Addiction isn’t actually curable – it can only be managed with engagement and learning. It’s important to accept weeks or months of rehab therapy after detox, to help make sure that relapses do not occur. Post-detox therapy is critical to an ability to stay sober.
30-day programs:
Short-term rehab programs, after detox, include individual cognitive-behavioral therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. Participants learn about how addiction works on the brain, why it is described as a brain disease, and what they need to do to sidestep the different ways in which relapse occurs. In therapy, you do more than just learn a few theoretical notions about how addiction works. Instead, you involve yourself in putting your understanding of addiction into practice and participate in skill-building that translates to useful, real-world abilities against addictive behavior. Thirty-day programs tend to be affordable, are covered by most insurance providers, and require the least amount of time of any rehab program, to complete. They are, for this reason, the least disruptive to patients’ lives.
60-day programs:
Sometimes, at the end of a rehab program, or partway through it, the medical and addiction professionals at the rehab determine that a short program is unlikely to succeed, given the patient’s manner of advancement through rehab. The patient may be in poor health, may require slow and gentle detoxification, and access to therapy for a longer period of time, in which they can delve deeper to learn the skills that they need. Sixty-day rehab programs may work well for these patients.
90-day programs:
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, there is research to show that in most cases, individuals who are addicted require at least 90 days of therapy to attempt to make a clean break with substance abuse. These longer-running programs are especially well-suited to those whose addictions have lasted a long period of time, are complicated by poor physical and mental health, or have reappeared after previous attempts at sobriety.
Ninety-day programs, certainly, are the most expensive kind – you need to pay for ninety days of care, room, and board. Learning the psychological skills needed to break free, and learning how to put them into practice, does take time, however. The residential environment allows clinicians to observe patients closely, to find out where exactly they struggle in their lives to resist substance abuse and show them how to practice the skills that they learn.

What happens after rehab?
In rehab, you learn that addiction, once it sets in, remains deep in your brain for life. Given a chance, addiction can return even once you graduate from rehab. Once rehab concludes, then, you do need to commit to refreshing your memory and re-learning your avoidance skills, once in a while. Legacy Healing Center offers aftercare programs to help.
Our aftercare programs involve membership to support groups and sober communities that help you talk about the challenges that you experience staying sober out in the real world, and revisit the skills that you’ve learned, through friendly conversations with other alumni.
Guest speeches by experts, and forums in which members of the alumni group can build strong relationships, are often organized.
Graduates of our rehab programs are also encouraged to join 12-step support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, to continue to maintain the sobriety that they’ve achieved.
