When you are done with your drug rehab or alcohol rehab program, we recommend you take the time to find places in and around the Baltimore area to explore that will not negatively impact your sobriety. A good rule of thumb is to go for a hike, a run, or take up a round of golf so you can begin to focus on physical activities that you like. This will go a long way in helping you to continue to recover and maintain your sobriety.

Go Hiking & Experience These Trails

Going for a long hike is a great way to decompress from stress. Here some of the best places to visit for a walk in the area include:

The Loch Raven Reservoir

Go Biking & Running Along These Trails

Whether you’re an avid runner or biker, or you simply enjoy the activities because they give you time to relax, there are several locations throughout Baltimore for you to enjoy a run or a biking adventure. Our favorites include:

Inner Harbor

One of the most popular places to run in Baltimore is at Inner Harbor. There is a long path along the stretch of the harbor. Runners or bikers can enjoy the waterfront views while getting in great exercise. You can access Inner Harbor at any time, which means you can work out around your schedule.

Druid Hill Park

Druid Hill Park is a favorite among runners and bikers due to the scenic surroundings. This location was one of the first larger public parks in America, and since that time, it has grown to incorporate running and biking paths and a zoo and different gardens. Don’t be surprised if you see various local events take place at this location throughout the year during your run.

Go Golfing With a Sober Companion

One of the reasons that golf is such a popular sport among people in recovery is that it allows you to breathe fresh air and focus on your athletic skills. It’s important to note that many golf courses serve alcohol, so if this makes you feel uncomfortable, you may want to bring a sober friend or family member with you during your outing.

Carroll Park Golf Course

An example of a quality golf course in the Baltimore area is the Carroll Park Golf Course. The different holes in this course will present you with a unique challenge and hours of enjoyment.
