Opioid Rehab for Bloomington, IN Residents
Opioid Epidemic
The term “opioid epidemic” was crafted in the 1990s when there was a sharp uptick in the number of grappling people with an addiction to opioids. The epidemic was triggered by a series of statements from pharmaceutical companies to medical providers that there was a meager chance that a patient would become addicted to opioid-based pain relievers. As a result, doctors began to prescribe this type of medication more and more, which led to unmistakable evidence that opioids have profound addictive qualities.
If you are currently dealing with an addiction to opioids, the Legacy Healing Center team in South Florida offers you the chance to make a change in your life. We provide you with the support, care, and guidance that you need to help to begin to recover from the effects of addiction.

History of Opioid Addiction
The use of opioids has grown and developed throughout the years. Beginning in the 1800s, the medical community began to realize that opioids could be used to relieve the pain of their patients. In fact, a form of the drug was used on the battlefield during the American Civil War to treat injured soldiers. However, what medical professionals did not fully understand was the highly addictive nature of opioids. This resulted in doctors unknowingly sending soldiers home from war with a growing addiction.

How to Detox From Opioids
Detoxing from opioids is something that you should never attempt by yourself. Within a few hours of the last time you consumed opioids, your body and mind will begin to go into withdrawal. The physical and psychological effects of withdrawal can be crippling. They usually entail feeling severely sick to the point where you cannot take care of yourself. It’s critical that you do not try to go through the detox process unless you are under the supervision of a trained medical professional.
When you first reach out to one of our recovery specialists, they will provide you with more information about enrolling in our detox program and what you can expect.
What Opioid Rehab Is Like
During your stay at Legacy Healing, your day will be filled with different therapy sessions. The four types of therapy that you will predominately take part in include behavioral therapy, group therapy, individual counseling, and family therapy if and when you are ready.
Individual counseling will play a focal role throughout your treatment. In many cases, you may have gone through a specific or a series of traumas in your life that may have triggered addiction. Although we will always encourage you to try to make connections with other clients at Legacy Healing who may have gone through similar experiences, it’s understandable that you may take time to get to that place.
During individual therapy, we can help you address those traumas and provide you with guidance on what you can do to avoid those triggers when you return home. Additionally, we can also collaborate with you to review your treatment plan to see if any changes need to be made.
How Long Does Rehab Last?
The decision regarding the length of your treatment is personal to your situation. You can opt to participate in a program that lasts anywhere between 30, 60, or 90 days. It’s important to note that there are many variables when it comes to your program’s duration, including the severity of your addiction, as well as considering any personal or professional responsibilities that you may need to cater to. We always recommend that you take advantage of the Legacy Healing Center team’s expertise and ask for their input before you finalize your decision.
