Opioid Rehab for Boston, MA Residents

Opioid Epidemic

The 1990s saw the announcement from pharmaceutical companies that ensured the medical community the chance a patient could become addicted to opioids was slim. With these reassurances, doctors began prescribing opioids to more patients as a way for their bodies to relax and recover from an assortment of injuries. Reality soon set in, however, with the realization that opioids are highly addictive.

The professionals at the Legacy Healing Center in South Florida are trained to help people that want to overcome their addiction to opioids. We work personally with each client by taking the time to learn more about you and your addiction so we can help you develop a treatment program that recognizes their recovery goals.

History of Opioid Addiction

Many people are surprised to learn that opioids have been in the United States since our country’s development. Before that, opioids have been in existence somehow, shape, or form since ancient times. Opioids first became a topic of discussion in America during the Civil War when battlefield doctors used morphine, a form of opium, to ease the pain of wounded soldiers. Sadly, they unknowingly sent many soldiers home with an addiction.

Since that time, opioids have taken many forms, and there was a noticeable spike in the drug being purchased for recreational use through street dealers over the last 20 years. Opioid use is responsible for numerous deaths around the country year over year.

How to Detox From Opioids

Although detox’s premise may seem simple and straightforward, you should not try to go through the process unless you are under the watchful eye of a trained medical professional. Typically, within a few hours of the last time you consumed your drug of choice, you will begin to experience withdrawal’s physical and psychological aspects. In most cases, clients complain of flu-like symptoms; however, these symptoms can easily be dangerous and deadly.

When you call and speak to one of our intake specialists, be sure to let them know if you are interested in our detox program.

What Opioid Rehab Is Like

The majority of your time in treatment will be spent taking part in various forms of therapy.
