What Does the Average Day Look Like While in Rehab?

The “average” day at Legacy Healing will vary depending on your treatment plan. For example, if you opt to enroll in our inpatient program, you will spend your days taking part in a mix of therapy and other activities that will help to reinforce your sobriety. If you decide to go through our outpatient program, you will still have access to the same forms of therapy and activities as our inpatient clients. However, you will come to Legacy at set days and times throughout the week for your treatment.

What Type of Therapy Happens at Rehab?

Legacy Healing Center in South Florida utilizes a variety of different therapeutic techniques to help you overcome addiction. Your treatment plan will include participating in one-on-one therapy and group therapy, as well as behavioral and family therapy. One of our intake specialists can provide you with more information about our therapy options.

Group Therapy

If you have ever been to 12-step meetings, you will notice that a group therapy session takes place in a similar type of format. A member of the Legacy Healing team will guide these sessions, during which time you are given a chance to speak about the topic of the meeting. Types of drug topics discussed during group therapy include addiction, recovery and coping methods that you can use to avoid falling into temptation.

Once you have had your chance to speak, it’s important you take the time to listen to the other members of your group. Their stories and experiences may help you see addiction or recovery in a new light, which can further your chances of overcoming your addiction. Remember, you may feel uncomfortable during a session at times, but it’s critical to participate.

One-on-One Therapy

Individualized therapy, also known as one-on-one therapy, is a critical part of your overall recovery simply because it allows you to speak to a member of our team in a personalized setting. Although group therapy is extremely helpful, you may not feel comfortable discussing certain aspects of your life in a group environment. Individual therapy gives you the flexibility to talk about traumas in your life that may have led you toward addiction and work through the emotions you may not have been able to process.

Sober Friendly Attractions Near Boston

When you are struggling with addiction, it’s easy to overlook the variety of sober friendly attractions scattered throughout the city. Boston is home to countless historical and cultural venues, as well as delicious restaurants and trendy stores. Before you can begin to explore these attractions, you must focus on adjusting to a routine that helps you remain focused on your sobriety. After finishing rehab at Legacy Healing in South Florida, one of the first things you should do when you get home to Boston is to find a 12-step meeting that you can attend regularly. Doing so will help you to build a support system that is critical to maintaining your sobriety. Once you feel as though you have established your healthy routine, you can begin to visit some of the fun venues around Boston. Here are a few great suggestions:

John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum

The state of Massachusetts was the home of President John F. Kennedy; therefore, Boston became the location for his presidential library. The library initially opened in 1979 and is filled with materials connected with Kennedy’s life and presidential career. There is also a special section of the library dedicated to Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and her unique life and style. There are also rotating exhibits at the library, including different audiovisual attractions.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is located at Columbia Point, Boston, Massachusetts 02125.

Adams National Historical Park

Located just outside of Boston in Quincy is the Adams National Historical Park. This beautiful landmark is the birthplace of John Adams and would go on to be the home of the Adams family. The Adams family would rename the property Peacefield, and it became the family’s focal point until 1927. In 1947, the property was bought by the National Park Service, and the buildings were turned into museums where people could experience a first-hand view of what living in the homes would have been like during the time of John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

The Adams National Historical Park is located at 1250 Hancock Street, Quincy, Massachusetts 02169.

Boston Public Garden

At the end of a stressful day, one of the best things you can do is take a walk outside and get some fresh air. The Boston Public Garden was one of the first public gardens and currently features a variety of beautiful outdoor features, including over 600 different types of trees, as well as a pond in the middle of the park that features Swan Boats. People’s average time in the park is between one to two hours, and the park is open from sunrise to sunset.
