What Does the Average Day Look Like While in Rehab?

During the course of your day, you will take part in various types of therapy and activities that will help reinforce your sobriety. When you are not working your way through your program, we provide our clients with the opportunity to work out with our personal trainer, speak with a team member about career options, or work to develop their spirituality.
What Type of Therapy Happens at Rehab?

There are multiple forms of therapy that you will participate in during the course of your treatment. Group therapy, individual therapy, behavioral therapy, and family therapy are all examples of the type of counseling that we offer at Legacy. To get the most out of your time in treatment, we actively encourage you to participate in each session.

Group Therapy

Group therapy will take a focal role in your overall treatment plan. This form of counseling allows you to explore different addiction and recovery topics with other clients at Legacy. These sessions are usually guided by a team member, and you are given a chance to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In turn, other clients in the group will do the same thing. Although you may hear specifics that you don’t always agree with, you should always try to keep an open mind to help you grow in your sober journey.

One-on-One Therapy

One-on-one therapy, also referred to as individual therapy, is another type of counseling that will be a central component of your overall treatment plan. These personalized sessions allow you to speak privately with a team member about experiences you may not yet feel comfortable sharing in a group setting. This time is also an excellent opportunity to talk about how you feel as you progress in your program. If you feel like any changes need to be made, you can speak with a team member about extending or adjusting your treatment plan. Of course, if you ever wanted to make any changes before your scheduled session, you can always request to speak to a member of our staff sooner.

Sober Friendly Attractions Near Bronx, NY

Exploring different sections of the Bronx is always a fun and exciting time. Before you venture out to these various locations, however, you should always ensure that you have a healthy and sober routine in place. When you return home to the Bronx after treatment at Legacy Healing in South Florida, you should take the time to find a 12-step meeting that you feel comfortable attending regularly. If you don’t feel comfortable going to see some of these places by yourself, you can always invite a sober friend or family member to come along with you.

Here are some suggestions of places to see:

Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo is a must-see attraction for animal lovers of all ages. This zoo initially opened in 1899 and is currently home to over 4,000 different animals. Visitors could easily spend an entire day exploring the nearly 265 acres of this zoo, which is open every day between 10 AM and 5 PM. This venue hosts different fun family events throughout the year, including a Halloween themed “Boo at the Zoo” and a Holiday Light display around the Christmas time. To avoid lines, you can always purchase tickets ahead of time on their website.

The Bronx Zoo is located at 2300 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, New York 10460.

Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium is the home of the world-famous New York Yankees. The Yankees are also referred to as the Bronx Bombers and are arguably one of the world’s most famous baseball teams. Coming to a game is an experience in and of itself. You will have the chance to see world-class athletes compete on the field, but you will also get to experience the incredible structure known as Yankee Stadium. It’s important to note that Yankee Stadium does sell alcohol so if you feel apprehensive, be sure you attend a game with a friend that will support your sobriety.

Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum

Whereas most of the Bronx has a hustle and bustle feel of the city, the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum allows visitors to take a step back in time. The house as it stands today was built between 1836 and 1842, with ownership passing back and forth between the Bartow and Pell families in the following years. It was ultimately sold to the City of New York in 1888 but not restored until the mid-1900s. Today, visitors can view the desk of Aaron Burr as well as various other fascinating artifacts that the families amassed while they owned the property.

You can visit the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum at 895 Shore Road, Bronx, New York 10464.
