Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens

John Boone originally built Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens in 1681. Boone was born in England, and when he surveyed the area, he realized the tremendous advantages of developing a plantation on the land. Today, you can visit this fascinating piece of history and walk along with a tour guide that will provide you with more information about the historical marker and its connection to slavery. The Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens is open every day but Monday, however, the hours vary.

Fort Moultrie

Fort Moultrie is one of the fortifications that played a critical role throughout several of our nation’s battles. The fort was initially built in 1776 and went on to house the 2nd South Carolina Regiment. When the fort was captured in the Siege of Charleston, it was temporarily named Forth Arbuthnot. However, the colonists would eventually regain control under the leadership of General Nathanael Greene. Today, visitors can walk through the different aspects of the fort and gain a better appreciation of what serving at this location would have felt like.

White Point Garden

If you would like to combine spending time outdoors while taking in the sites of different relics and memorials, White Point Garden provides the perfect location. This park spans 5.7 acres and features various cannons and other military memorials. At the center of the park is a monument dedicated to the British defeat when the colonists were able to take back Fort Moultrie in 1776. You can easily spend hours wandering the park getting exercise and taking in education.
