Alcohol Rehab for Charlotte Residents

What Does Alcohol Rehab Consist Of?

Combating an addiction to alcohol is something that can feel impossible to overcome at times. In many ways, it can feel as though alcohol impacts every aspect of our society. You will see advertisements for alcohol on different commercials throughout the day. There is alcohol that is readily available at restaurants when you go out to eat, and it may seem like there is a liquor store on nearly every other corner.

The alcohol treatment program at Legacy Healing Center in South Florida looks to help you explore the reasons that led you to alcoholism and provide you with the tools and the insight you need to overcome your addiction. During your time in treatment, you will take part in different forms of therapies as well as other activities that reinforce your sobriety and help you to learn more about yourself as a person in recovery.

First, Alcohol Detox

It’s essential not to overlook the critical role that alcohol detox should play in your recovery. Suppose you are still in active addiction when you initially reach out to our intake specialist. In that case, they will take the time to discuss the possibility and advantages of alcohol detox.

Within hours of your last drink, your body will likely begin to experience the physical effects of no longer drinking. These effects are referred to as withdrawal symptoms. While it’s impossible to narrow down precisely what you will feel during this stage, many people have reported feeling nauseous or generally sick. In more severe cases, a person may feel very shaky or an increase in anxiety.

It’s important to understand those withdrawal symptoms could also become deadly. In some instances, some people experience a seizure as a result of withdrawing from alcohol. If you are not tended to quickly, you could die from a seizure.

Getting to the Root of Alcohol Addiction

While overcoming an addiction to alcohol is critical, learning what led you to turn to alcoholism is just as important. This is generally done using different forms of therapy. The two primary types of counseling that we implement at Legacy are group therapy and one-on-one therapy.

One of the leading benefits of group therapy is that this form of counseling helps you build your support system. Through listening and sharing, you will find that you are not the only person who may be thinking or feeling a specific way about a particular topic. On the other hand, individual therapy gives you a platform to share the vulnerabilities that you may not yet feel comfortable sharing in a group setting.

Overcoming Addiction with Therapy

While group therapy and individual therapy play essential roles in your recovery, our facility also offers other forms of treatment to help you overcome your addiction. For example, it is not uncommon for a person struggling with an addiction to also struggle with a mental illness. In these instances, we will provide that client the opportunity to participate in behavioral therapy.

Unfortunately, addiction usually impacts the person that is combating the disease but the family members of that person as well. If you are interested in putting the relationship with your family back together, it will give you and your family the chance to participate in family therapy. These sessions are done in a neutral setting and allow all participants to share their feelings and begin to heal.
