Opioid Rehab for Cleveland, Ohio Residents

Opioid Epidemic

During the 1990s, an event now known as the opioid epidemic first began to take hold in the United States. The epidemic first started with an announcement from pharmaceutical companies attesting that a very low chance that a person who was prescribed opioids would ever become addicted to them. With this pronouncement, more and more doctors began to prescribe these drugs once again.

However, it quickly became apparent that an increased chance a patient can become addicted to opioids reasonably quickly. This misinformation resulted in thousands of people developing an addiction to opioids. If you are currently struggling with an addiction to opioids, the addiction experts at Legacy Healing Center are here to help you. We specialize in assisting clients with all forms of addiction.

History of Opioid Addiction

Opioids have been in existence in our society for many years. In America, opioids were used recreationally until the Civil War when field doctors began to use them to help treat wounded soldiers on the battlefield. Since then, however, the highly addictive qualities associated with opioids have taken center stage, which ultimately led to the development of the opioid epidemic.

How to Detox From Opioids

As you begin to develop your treatment program, it’s essential that you also consider first going through our detox program, especially if you are still in active addiction. You never want to attempt to detox from opioids unless you are under the care of a person that has been uniquely trained to handle the ramifications of withdrawal. In most cases, your body will begin to exhibit the signs of withdrawal within a few hours of the last time you consumed your opioid drug of choice. Clients have reported feeling several symptoms; in general, however, they indicate that they feel as though they are fighting off a bad case of the flu.

These withdrawal symptoms will usually last over a few days. However, during this time, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for you to take care of yourself, which is why we strongly recommend that our clients go through our detox program before they begin treatment. You can rest assured that you will always be looked after while your body begins to heal. Another important reason why we suggest that you take advantage of our detox program is that there is still the possibility that your withdrawal symptoms could turn severe or deadly. We provide you with the peace of mind of knowing that you are in excellent hands throughout the withdrawal process.

What Opioid Rehab Is Like?

Regardless of whether you have been through a treatment program at another facility before or this is the first time coming to a recovery facility, it’s understandable that you may feel apprehensive about coming to Legacy Healing simply because you don’t know what to expect. The home away from home environment that we create at Legacy is one of the main reasons why our clients benefit the most out of their time here. During your treatment program, you will participate in different forms of therapy and activities that will help you address the reasons in your life that led you toward addiction as well as give you the tools you need to overcome your addiction.

How Long Does Rehab Last?

The decision around the length of your stay at Legacy Healing Center is a personal one. There are several factors that you should take into consideration before you finalize your choice. For example, if you have personal or professional responsibilities that prevent you from a long-term stay, you may initially want to opt to work through our 30 or 60-day program. However, if you have the flexibility to go through our long-term 90-day program, you will undoubtedly see the benefits of making that long term commitment. Since there are many aspects of your treatment plan to consider, we always recommend that you decide your program’s duration with the help of a member of our team.
