Faith-Based Drug Rehab Options for Cocoa Beach, FL Residents

Faith-Based Rehab for Cocoa Beach, FL Residents

Faith is a proven way to help boost the effectiveness of a rehab program for addiction. Twelve-step programs have been widely used for decades, for example, and their ability to help people comes, at least in part, from their spiritual character. Faith-based drug rehab works on the belief that substance abuse, in many cases, occurs because people feel a void within, left behind by an absence of spirituality. Reaffirming your faith, and recreating space in your life for God, can be a meaningful way to reach for sobriety and stay healthy.

It’s important to understand that faith-based rehab is not opposed to the findings of modern medical science. At Legacy Healing Center, faith-based programs use evidence-based treatment paths designed in close alignment with modern findings, but they also offer the added dimension of spiritual learning to focus on.

How are faith-based rehabs different?

Faith-based rehab can work well for people who hold deep faith in God. A program that caters to your religion, denomination and spiritual preferences, can bring added strength to your efforts to leave an addiction behind. When you make your faith a part of your rehab process, you get to address the guilt that you possibly feel at having let God down. Guilt tends to be a particularly challenging emotion for people to deal with when they struggle with addiction. It’s important to know that it’s a valid feeling to experience, but that you can overcome it by making every effort to end your addiction, and renewing your relationship with God. It is in these ways that faith-based rehab is different from secular rehab.

While you could renew your faith and seek forgiveness at home, in private, you wouldn’t have the benefit of the scientific, evidence-based treatment protocols that you would take advantage of in rehab. It is science and faith, together, that successfully deliver you from addiction. In a group setting, in rehab, you get to share your feelings and your faith with others of similar conviction, gain strength from the struggles of fellow patients and help them, yourself.

Faith-based rehab is conducted by therapists and practitioners who share the beliefs of their patients. They are able to offer spiritual insights into why life should take the turns that it does, how others have used their faith as an anchor to climb out of addiction, and how you can do so yourself.

Once you graduate from a faith-based program, the way in which work to maintain your sobriety tends to be different from what people coming out of secular programs do, as well. The support groups that you get to attend, while they work toward the same goals as those in secular programs, will tend to focus on the power of faith and the love of God as ways to keep you connected to your goals. Faith can be a very strong ally in your journey to lifelong sobriety.

What does the Bible say about addiction?

The system of belief that spiritual rehab works on, has foundations in the teachings of the Bible. In Corinthians 10:13, for instance, the Bible proposes the idea that when God tests you, He always makes sure that you do possess the strength and ability that you need to resist and overcome. In fact, it’s possible to see a substance abuse habit as an opportunity to grow stronger, become a better person, and deepen your faith in God. Whatever ways God may choose to place temptation before you, he will always also place the means to overcome in your hands.

The Bible, in James 4:7, makes clear the idea that 12-step programs are based on – that surrendering to God and submitting to his power is the right way to confront addiction. You acknowledge to yourself and to God that you are powerless yourself, and it is only with His divine guidance that you hope to break free of the temptations of the devil.

In Peter 5:10, the Scripture speaks of how people may find that they need to endure suffering for a time, but God always makes sure that your life is restored to its original promise, and you’ve made whole and strong, again.

When you hold deep faith in God, you don’t need to view addiction as completely opposed to it. Rather, all you need to do is to see it as a test that you need to prove yourself at, on your way to becoming closer to God.

Sober-friendly attractions near Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach has great surfing and dining, and easy access to the wonders of space exploration at Cape Canaveral, nearby. If you’re interested in viewing a rocket launch, and if there is one scheduled when you’re in Cocoa Beach, the Constitution Bicentennial Park has a great view, and is good for picnics. There are other popular attractions in this town, as well, however. The Museum of Dinosaurs and Ancient Cultures is an example. It is a private exhibition that has been open since 2017. Over the sprawling 25,000 square-feet that the museum occupies, you get to see massive displays of the fossils of 16 different types of dinosaurs, covering the Jurassic, Cretaceous and Triassic periods. The museum even has the fossilized skeleton of a giganotosaurus, a dinosaur that measured 46 feet, from tip to tail.

Legacy Healing Center has no dearth of great activities to offer you when you’re healthy enough and able to take advantage of them. Once you begin with the treatment, and commit to it, the experts at Legacy’s evidence-based addiction treatment programs for Cocoa Beach residents, are able to guide you toward sobriety before very long. All you need to do is to trust in the process, trust in yourself, and, above all, trust in God.
