Opioid Rehab Daytona Beach

Opioid Epidemic

As the opioid epidemic becomes increasingly prominent across the nation, the importance of good treatment programs becomes even more important. The opioid epidemic ravages the lives of individuals and families.  An estimated 130 Americans die daily from opioid-related overdoses. While the blame for the waves of opioid epidemics tends to fall on a group of pharmaceutical companies, no one is willing to take the fall for it.

Are you or a loved one struggling with an addiction to opioids?  Our helpful intake specialists are standing by 24/7 to answer your questions and help you understand all of the options available to you.  888.534.2295

An addiction to opioids is a scary, severe thing and it takes no prejudice on individuals, causing families to do what they can to keep their loved ones out of harm. Admitting there is a problem with opioids is difficult but a simple phone call to Legacy Healing Center can put in motion the correct path. At Legacy Healing Center we offer premier behavioral therapies and excellently trained staff that will help guide our clients and their families through the entire treatment process.

History Of Opioid Addiction

The history of the opioid epidemic shows that it comes in waves and has done so since 1991. In the years between 1991 and 1999, it was noted that there was a rise in the use of opioid pain medications to treat pain experienced by non-cancerous patients. The use of these medications to treat pain meant that by 1999, almost 90% of pain medications that were prescribed to non-cancerous patients were opioids medications.

In 2010 the nation saw another rise in overdose deaths related to the use of opioid medications. This was due to the fact that individuals who were using opioids to treat pain were no longer able to renew their prescriptions which led them to turn to the streets to find heroin.

Again in 2013, there was another wave of opioid-related overdose deaths because of the production of the synthetic opioid Fentanyl. After 2013, the CDC issued a set of guidelines for the medical community to regulate the prescribing of opioid medications.

How To Detox From Opioids

After initially being evaluated at one of our treatment centers the first step in recovery will be going through a medically assisted detox. Detoxing from opioids, or any addictive substance is not always easy but it is extremely important.

At Legacy, we provide our clients with a medically supervised detox program that significantly lessens withdrawal symptoms while also allowing the body to safely detox from the toxic substances. This process is always supervised by medical professionals because withdrawal symptoms can be severe depending on the type and severity of the addiction. We want to make sure that our clients are as comfortable as possible in a safe in a stable environment.

Once beginning the detox program, clients can expect to feel withdrawal symptoms within 24 hours of not using substances. These withdrawal symptoms will then normally intensify for the following 48-72 hours. The 72-hour mark is normally when withdrawal symptoms begin to subside, but can still be felt for up to a week after beginning the detox.

We emphasize the importance of a medically supervised detox at our treatment center because it gives the body the chance to safely expel all of the substances and toxins it has built up throughout the addiction. We ensure that our detox programs occur in a safe environment while administering medications necessary to lessen withdrawal symptoms. Some common withdrawal symptoms that may be felt during detox are the following:

– Anxiety

– Restlessness

– Insomnia

– High Blood Pressure

– Rapid Heartbeat

– Excessive Sweating

– Blurred Vision

– Tearing

– Dilated Pupils

– Muscle & Joint Pain

– Nausea

– Vomiting

– Abdominal Pain

– Diarrhea

– Dehydration

We want to express that not every situation is alike and the numbers provided are a general estimate of what the detox process could be like for a client. There are many factors that come into play when it comes to the length and severity of withdrawal symptoms felt during detox. These factors are:

– Age

– Length of addiction

– Type of addiction

– Severity of addiction

– Physical Health

– Mental Health

No matter the addiction, at Legacy our medical professionals are experts in their field and are ready to make sure that each client receives the correct process and safety measures throughout the entire process.
