Opioid Epidemic

Do you find yourself waking up in the morning and your first thoughts race to the next time you can consume opioids? Have your personal and professional relationships fallen apart as a result of your addiction?

When you are ready to take the first steps toward a sober and more fulfilling life, the luxury rehab of the Legacy Healing Center team is here to help you. We provide a unique approach to treatment which includes a combination of various forms of therapy and a focus on both physical and mental health.

History of Opioid Addiction

Although there has been an abundance of attention associated with opioid addiction in the past few years, you may be surprised to learn that opioids were cultivated in some way, shape, or form as far back as 3400 B.C. During these times, opioids were used recreationally. It was not until some time later that cultivators and those in the medical profession at the time realized that opioids could be used in a way to alleviate pain.

One of the first major events in which opioids were used in this way was during the United States Civil War. Doctors were put in a position of having to triage and tend to their patients right on the battlefield and they needed a way to help ease their patient’s pain. They utilized morphine which is an opioid variant. Little did they know that they would send home thousands of opioid-addicted soldiers.

Since that time, doctors have tried to administer opioids with care.  However, the addictive quality of opioids is difficult to manage with each patient. It is not uncommon for patients to lie to doctors or jump from doctor to doctor to fill their opioid prescription.

How to Detox from Opioids

It’s critical that you do not overlook the importance of going through our medical detox program before you begin your treatment plan. If you are still struggling with active addiction then suddenly stop consuming opioids, your body will most likely get sent into a tailspin.

Your body has become accustomed to ingesting opioids, when it realizes that you are not going to consume this drug again, you will start to experience certain withdrawal symptoms. Your withdrawal symptoms will likely be dependent on the severity of your addiction, however, examples of withdrawal symptoms can include extreme nausea, increased anxiety, and dizziness. It is not uncommon, however, for many patients to have an increased risk of experience more serious side effects such as a seizure.

We never recommend that you attempt to detox without the help of a trained medical professional. When you come to the Legacy Healing Center, you can rest assured that our team will monitor your condition around the clock to ensure that you remain in the best possible health during the hours and days that you are going through detox. In the majority of cases, detox will not last any more than a few days.

What is Opioid Rehab Like?

When you enroll in one of our treatment programs, our professionals work around the clock to provide you with as much opportunity as possible to focus on your recovery. We provide you with options to attend our inpatient program or an outpatient form of treatment. When you take part in our inpatient program, you will remain on our campus throughout the duration of your treatment. Outpatient attendees have the flexibility to come and go according to their specific program schedule.

Although your treatment program will mainly focus on different forms of therapy including individual, group, and behavioral counseling, your treatment plan will also revolve around other important and practical parts of your life.

How Long Does Rehab Last?

One of the leading reasons why patients prefer Legacy Healing Center is because we provide you with the opportunity to work with our counselors to create a personalized treatment plan that suits your life responsibilities and needs. Our treatment programs typically last between 30 and 90-days. While we usually recommend that clients enroll in our 90-day program, we realize that sometimes that is not always possible. We encourage you to actively communicate with our team so that we can develop a treatment plan that works best for you.
