Inpatient Drug Rehab for Jacksonville Residents

What is Inpatient Drug Rehab?

Are you looking to break free from drug addiction but aren’t sure if an inpatient or outpatient drug rehab program is right for you? Inpatient drug rehab provides individuals with evidence-based treatment programs that are effective in reversing addiction. This type of program can last anywhere from 28 to 90 days or more, and offers individuals comprehensive care in a structured, safe environment that is best suited for addiction recovery. Those enrolled are free to focus on their recovery without having any outside distractions or interference.

When beginning the process of enrolling into a rehab program, individuals are given a physical and psychological examination and assessment, and then a treatment program is designed based on the results. The assessment helps to determine the level of care the person needs to effectively treat their addiction and other challenges they may be facing, such as:

  • Physical health problems
  • The severity and longevity of the addiction
  • Co-occurring mental disorders like: depression, bi-polar disorder, ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, etc.
  • Non-compliance of treatment
  • Multiple relapses

The first stage of treatment at an inpatient rehab facility is the medically supervised detox procedure where you will be weaned off of all offending substances. During this time, you will be closely monitored by the medical team throughout the detox process, and kept stable and safe.

Any withdrawal symptoms experienced can be treated by the medical staff, and you will be kept as comfortable as possible throughout the process. Most withdrawal symptoms usually abate by 7 to 10 days, although it is important to know that some can last longer.

The basis of inpatient treatment programs is to assist an individual in transitioning from addictive behavior to sober living by changing their relationship with addictive substances like drugs, alcohol, and prescription medications. Depending on the level of care needed, the individual can receive any of the following treatment options:

  • Medically supervised detox
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Dialectical behavior therapy
  • Psychodynamic therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Medically-assisted therapy
  • Relapse prevention
  • 12-step programs
  • Aftercare programs

Once an individual has completed an inpatient treatment program, he/she can continue receiving care and support in an outpatient program or an aftercare program. Individuals who would benefit most from an inpatient rehab program are those that exhibit the signs of addiction, such as:

  • Those who are unable to stop using drugs
  • Those that deny they have a drug problem
  • Individuals who experience strong cravings for drugs
  • Those who continue to use drugs regardless of the negative effects it has on their health and life
  • Those who are unable to fulfill commitments and responsibilities to their family, work, or school
  • Individuals who isolate them self from others to use drugs
  • Those who spend all their money on drugs
  • Those who take drugs in larger doses, or for longer periods of time than intended
  • Individuals who put them self in dangerous situations while under the influence of drugs
  • Individuals who experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop using drugs
  • Those who self-medicate to alleviate physical or mental pain, or other problems by using drugs
  • Individuals who spend most of their time thinking about getting drugs, using them, and recovering from their effects
  • Those who borrow or steal money to buy drugs

How Long Does Rehab Take?

Many factors will come into play that will determine where you go to rehab and how long you will spend there. Inpatient rehabs can last from 28 to 90 days or more, and most health insurance will cover a 28 to 30-day stay at a rehab facility. The individual will have to pay out-of-pocket on whatever his health insurance does not cover. To lower the cost, enrollees can switch to an outpatient status after a 30-day treatment program but this is not recommended for individuals with severe addictions or other serious challenges.

The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) recommends a minimum of 90 days or more at an inpatient rehab facility to effectively treat severe addictions. The transition from addiction to sobriety is a process that takes time, and the individual needs both the time and the structured environment to make the necessary changes in his thought and behavior patterns for a successful recovery.

30 Day Rehab

Individuals in a 30-day rehab facility will receive a medical detox and attend group counseling sessions, among other therapies. Group counseling address issues that the individual faces that are related to addictive behavior. Individuals have a chance to socialize with their peers during these meetings, and support and encourage each other in their recovery journey. Individual therapies, recovery education, and health-related classes or workshops can also fill your time at a 30-day rehab.

60 Day Rehab

A 60-day rehab program gives the individual more time to work on his recovery, and attend specific programs that address his current needs and challenges. He may receive individual counseling sessions where deep-seated issues are discussed that relate to addictive behaviors. Some therapies also explore the individual’s destructive thought and behavior patterns that can also lead to substance abuse.

Addiction education and relapse prevention techniques are other therapies that the individual may receive that help him understand his addictive behavior and how he can change it to avoid a relapse in the future. These are foundational basics of addiction recovery that restructure the individual’s thought and behavior processes.

The individual may also receive medication-assisted therapy that affords him the chance to heal, by removing drug cravings and normalizing brain chemistry. This type of therapy works by combining specific medications that normalize brain and bodily functions with counseling and behavioral therapies.

90 Day Long Term Rehab

A 90-day rehab program provides the most effective treatment for addiction recovery. The individual will receive a variety of treatment programs, as mentioned in the 30 and 60 day programs above, plus have the necessary time to work through problems and change his behavior patterns before leaving the rehab facility.

A 90-day rehab program is recommended for individuals who struggle with severe addiction plus other physical, mental, emotional, or social problems. Addiction recovery is a process that takes time, and it is important to remember that everyone progresses at his or her own unique pace. Once the rehab program is completed, the individual should attend an aftercare program for continued counseling and support.
