What is Rehab Like – Jacksonville

Alcohol & Drug Rehab for Jacksonville Residents

Suffering from substance use disorder (addiction) can cause severe problems with your health, mental wellness, relationships, your work, and even with the law. The help that you can receive at an accredited rehab such as Legacy Healing Center can have a significant positive impact on your life. But what is rehab like at our accredited rehab center?

Every rehab is different. At Legacy Healing Center in South Florida, to answer the question “what is rehab like?”, we can explore the approach that we take with recovery. At Legacy Healing Center, we believe in holistic programs that follow the principles of effective treatment, as laid out by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Our unique approach heals patients from the inside out; patients receive individualized care based on their specific needs.

The principles of effective treatment include aspects of patient care such as providing behavioral therapy to help overcome problematic behavior, improving coping skills, treating co-occurring mental disorders, and looking at other areas of the patient’s life through a holistic approach to recovery among other principals.

These principals drive us in the addiction treatment that we provide. We have also been fully accredited by the Joint Commission, which ensures the level of care that we can provide for alcohol and drug addiction. Our first-class facility in South Florida caters to residents of all of Florida and across the nation. All who enter our doors will benefit from our holistic, evidence-based approach to healing.

What Do You Do During Rehab?

So, what is inpatient drug rehab like at Legacy Healing Center in terms of treatment? The treatments and therapies that we use in your personalized treatment program will likely include a medical detox and various behavioral therapies that are designed to help you overcome addiction. We also take a holistic treatment approach that helps to improve your overall quality of life and prevent relapse.

A medical detox is a program that assists you through the withdrawal process. During the first week of your recovery, you will likely deal with withdrawal symptoms if you’ve become physically dependent. These symptoms range from uncomfortable to dangerous. However, through our medical detox program, we can reduce symptoms and make the experience far easier, and safer, to get through.

Behavioral therapy is a cornerstone of rehab. It is where the causes of your addiction are explored and positive changes are made. You may have specific behaviors and thinking that may be contributing to your substance abuse, which will be explored and remedied in behavioral therapy. The types of therapeutic models that we use in Legacy Healing Center include cognitive behavioral therapy, process therapy, psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivation enhancement therapy, and solution focused therapy among others.

Our holistic approach to treatment means that we address other areas of your life that could improve and ultimately enhance your recovery. We explore the possibility of a co-occurring mental disorder such as depression or anxiety disorders that aren’t related to withdrawal symptoms. Our health and wellness programs and career services further help to enhance your recovery and long-term sobriety.

What Does the Average Day Look Like While in Rehab?

In our residential rehab program, you will live at our rehab center in South Florida, for the duration of your program. Whether in our 30-, 60-, or 90-day rehab program, your day will start by waking up in your private or shared room. You will prepare for your day by getting dressed and washing up before having breakfast. Our meals are prepared by in-house chefs using quality ingredients filled with the nutrition you need to improve your recovery and have the energy to meet the day.

After breakfast, you’ll participate in therapies and holistic healing programs based on your personal treatment plan throughout the day with a lunch in-between. By the end of the day, you’ll enjoy a delicious meal and then retire to your room.

Group Therapy

One of the ways in which we offer our behavioral therapy is through the group format. Taking part in this form of therapy can offer you several benefits such as learning from others in the program that may be further along with their recovery and can share insight on what you’re feeling from a peer perspective.

In group therapy, because of the common experiences you share, your recovery can be strengthened through the shared goal of long-term recovery. It can also provide you with support that is often crucial for long-term sobriety.

One-on-One Therapy

One-on-one, or individual, therapy can be a form of therapy that achieves profound results. It is a private, therapeutic space where more delicate areas of your life can be explored. While with your healthcare practitioner, you will delve into areas such as motivation, coping skills, behavior and thinking that doesn’t support recovery, and work through past trauma among other things.
