Patricia Cornwell is one of the most well-known authors from the Miami area. She is well known for her series of novels that feature medical examiner Kay Scarpetta in the staring role. If you are a fan of the series revolving around the character Hannibal Lecter, you will certainly recognize the name, Thomas Harris. Thomas Harris is a crime and suspense writer who was born in Tennessee but now calls Miami home. In 1981, he published the first book surrounding the fictional character’s twisted existence, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. He would publish three more books in the series, which would ultimately parlay into a successful Hollywood movie series.

During her career, she has won three Grammy Awards and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She currently lives in the Miami area with her husband, Emilio Estefan and their family.

Ricky Martin took the pop world by storm in the 1990s and was dubbed the “Latin Music King.” Although he had success when he was part of the band Menudo, Martin’s talents were shown through solo hits such as “Livin’ la Vida Loca” and “The Cup of Life.” Today, Martin focuses more on the music industry’s business side by serving as a songwriter and producer. He splits his time between Los Angeles and Miami and also owns a private island in Brazil. He came out as gay in 2010 and has since gotten married and has four children.
