The team at Legacy Healing Center in South Florida takes a unique approach to assist our clients in working through their battle with opioid addiction. We work personally with you to develop a holistic treatment course that addresses physical recovery and emotional and spiritual recovery.

History Of Opioid Addiction

Sadly, many people are unaware of the impact the opioid epidemic has had on Americans. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an average of 130 people die every day due to an opioid overdose. The epidemic truly took home in the late 1990s because it was erroneously thought that it was not possible to become addicted to opioid medication. Unfortunately, the number of addicted to opioids has only steadily gone up over the years.

How To Detox From Opioids

It is never advisable that you attempt to detox from opioids without the assistance of a person that has been specifically trained in this field. You will likely experience withdrawal symptoms as your mind and body begin to adjust to the fact that it will no longer receive the influence of a specific opioid. Our staff will monitor you around the clock to ensure that you do not experience any severe consequences.

What Opioid Rehab Is Like

At Legacy Healing Center in South Florida, we pride ourselves on providing our clients with a relaxed and productive atmosphere where they can begin to focus on themselves and what they need to do to achieve lifelong sobriety. You will take part in various forms of therapy throughout the day, including group therapy, individual counseling, and behavioral therapy.

However, you also have the chance to work with one of our personal trainers on developing a workout routine or meet with our chiropractor on physical issues that you may have. If there is ever anything that we can do to make your stay at Legacy better, say the word, and we will do everything we can to accommodate.

How Long Does Rehab Last?

The length of your stay at our treatment center is something that we strongly recommend you discuss with one of our counselors. Both inpatient and outpatient clients have the option to participate in our 30, 60, or 90-day programs. There are tremendous benefits to each duration. For example, initial work in our 30-day program will supply you with the ability to break the vicious cycle often associated with addiction. In contrast, our 90-day long-term program provides you with an extended length of time to focus on recovering both physically and emotionally.

Sober Friendly Attractions Near New York City

After completing rehab in South Florida and returning to the city, there will be numerous sober-related activities to enjoy. New York City is well-known for its diverse range of incredible cultural attractions. You could walk into the city at 7 AM and undoubtedly keep yourself visiting different places well into the night hours.

However, when you are new to the world of recovery, it’s essential that you carefully choose the sites that you visit so that you do not tempt yourself to fall back into your addictive habits. A good rule of thumb is to establish a healthy routine of attending a regular 12-step meeting once you return home and perhaps invite a friend to go out with you to different sober friendly places to receive positive encouragement. If you are looking for a few places to visit in the NYC area, here are some of our top suggestions:

Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is, without question, one of the most noticeable landmarks in the New York City area simply because of its design. Although this is primarily an art museum, the building itself has been featured as the backdrop for a variety of movies. The building was originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is currently home to several impressionists and contemporary art pieces. If you are looking to get more bang for your buck during your visit, try to visit on Saturday between 5 PM and 8 PM when you can pay as you wish.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is located at 1071 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10128.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral

If you are having a particularly stressful day, visiting a venue that can provide you with peace and solitude may be the way to go. St. Patrick’s Cathedral is an awe-inspiring gothic church that attracts religious followers and curious visitors alike. The Cathedral hosts various times for mass and confession throughout the day. However, it is generally open for people who would just like to come and sit for a moment of meditation.

You can visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue between 50th and 51st Street, New York, NY 10022.

New York Aquarium

Do you enjoy learning about animals? If so, you should make time to visit the New York Aquarium. Located just a short drive from New York City, the aquarium is home to adorable animals, including the black-footed penguin and the California sea lion. You can also get a first-hand look of oceanic predators such as the sand tiger shark. The New York Aquarium is open seven days a week. However, the hours do change throughout the year.

The New York Aquarium is located at 602 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11224.

The professionals at Legacy Healing Center in South Florida are available around the clock to help you put a plan together to help you feel the full benefits of sobriety and recovery.
