Faith-Based Drug Rehab for Newark, New Jersey Residents

What Does Alcohol Rehab Consist Of?

An alcohol addiction entails something that can harm seemingly every detail of your life. It may cause you to lose your job or distance yourself from the people around you that care about you. When you are ready to overcome your addiction, the Legacy Healing Center experts in South Florida are here to help you.

During the course of your time at Legacy, Newark residents will participate in a variety of therapeutic activities that will help you come to the root cause of your addiction. You will also work with our team to develop a plan that will help you to avoid temptations once you return home. When you are not in therapy, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the excellent amenities available at Legacy. You can rest assured that you will be inexperienced hands during your time at our facility.

First, Alcohol Detox

One of your recovery’s important components is first going through the detox process. It’s never advisable that you attempt to work through a program unless you are not under the influence of alcohol. You should never attempt to detox from alcohol unless you are under the care of a trained medical professional because you can never predict the type of symptoms you may feel as you begin to withdraw.

You will likely feel extremely nauseous, shaky, and generally sick for a few days in most cases. These symptoms start to set in within a few hours when you took your last drink. Although these symptoms may sound mild, they could impact how you can care for yourself, which is why it’s essential never to try to go through the detox process alone. Once you are done with detox, you can begin to focus on working through your treatment program.

Getting to the Root of Alcohol Addiction

It’s important to uncover the root cause of your addiction so that you can begin to focus on addressing it. It’s not uncommon for a person that has experienced severe trauma to develop a habit over time. Whether you were a first responder and you witnessed a call that you have not been able to process or you experienced a sexual assault in your childhood or adult years, these events have the potential of triggering an addiction. Our team will help you identify these instances to begin to take steps toward overcoming them.

Overcoming Addiction With Therapy

Whether you enroll in our inpatient program or our outpatient program, you will immerse yourself in therapy during the time that you are working through your program. Behavioral therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy are all examples of therapy you will experience at Legacy.

When you are participating in therapy, we always caution our clients to remain open to the information they are hearing and learning. When you are amid addiction, you may feel that no one else in the world feels or thinks the same way you do. As you begin to recover, you will slowly start to find that other people feel similar to you do about addiction and recovery. We encourage you to share your thoughts and opinions during therapy so that you can genuinely take advantage of developing your own system of support.
