First, Alcohol Detox

Before you can completely focus on your treatment program, you must first remove any trace of alcohol from your system. However, when you are in the midst of an addiction, it’s never advisable that you try to complete this process on your own. Once your brain and body realize that you will not be consuming the amount of alcohol you normally drink, you will start to experience withdrawal symptoms, including nausea, shakiness, and an increase in your anxiety. In certain cases, withdrawal symptoms can be severe if not deadly, which is why you should never try to detox unless you are under the care of a trained medical professional.
